Our Secular Franciscan Fraternity is blessed to have Fr. Michael Lorentsen, OFM Conv. as our Spiritual Assistant.
Father is present for our sacramental services, and to provide spiritual guidance and ongoing formation in our Franciscan spirituality.
Father is originally from Long Island, NY. He was a novice at Saint Francis Friary on Todt Hill Road from 1989-1990. He professed his solemn vows as a friar in 1993, and was ordained priest on Pentecost Sunday, 1994. Since 2015, Father has been serving as a parochial vicar at Saint Peter Parish in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. He also serves as the Spiritual Assistant for the St. Maximilian Kolbe Fraternity in Point Pleasant Beach.
Fr. Michael holds a Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) and a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) in Christian Spirituality from the Washington Theological Union.
Our fraternity is indebted to Fr. James McCurry, Provincial Minister, who reached out to Fr. Lorentsen on our behalf upon the sudden and unexpected death of our former Spiritual Assistant, Fr. Justin Biase, OFM Conv., and to Fr. Michael, who accepted Fr. McCurry's request, despite his already very busy schedule.
